What do you think about Orleanna just packing up and never looking back? How do you feel about her leaving Leah behind and letting Rachel go? Do you think Orleanna is a good mother?
how do i feel aboubt orleanna leaving?? i dont think that was right to leave her own family behind like that.no matter what happens thats uncalled for.
Her leaving leah behind and lettin rachel go , i feel that, that was fair since leah didnt want to go and rqachel did,Shes goin to college and is getting married to anatole. Do i think she is a good mother ?? yes and no, yes, because before maryjane died, she was a really good mother it seems, then she just cracked because she died. But no because abondoning her family like that is the esy way out...........
I think Orleanna should have left Nathan MONTHS ago. She should have been stronger and stood up for herself instead of letting Nathan treat her and the girls so poorly. I suppose I do applaud her for actually doing it, though.
She really should have thought about her decision to let Leah stay with Anatole and to let Rachel go with Axelroot. However, under the circumstances that she was facing, her decision was smart. If she had waited, she and Adah might not have been able to get back to the states.
Orleanna is a good mother that is put into a bad situation. She was forced to make quick decisions that she had no clue what the outcome would be. Although some of her choices seem irresponsible, she did what she thought was best for her girls at the time.
Orleanna is a good mother she was just placed in the worst of Situations and i blieve she made the best decision in most of the situations letting leah stay and ratchel go although understandable i think she could have tryed just a little harder to keep rachel and leah with her but given her current state she made those decisions the best she could
Here leaving was the one of the better decisions she made...Although I think she should have made it sooner not just sit there and wait for a tragedy to strike but at the same time Nathan could no longer protest her leaving she had every reason in the world at that point.
I think orleanna is a good mother she wanted to do what was right for her children along time ago but didn't have the guts to stand up to Nathan. I think it was about time for her to do something about it. She took all the children could have taken. Rachel was kind of on her own program she only cared about herself so what happens to her is her own fault . It was a little iffy leaving leah behind but she did know Anatole could be trusted even more than her own husband and they ended up getting married anyway. I dont think I would leave my own child personally.
I think that Orleanna did make the right choice by leaving. Although in one sense she left to late. If she would have left when she should have, her daughter might not be dead. In the end I think she did make the right choice, even though it may seem wrong.
I think even though this was probably a hard decision for her, it was the right one. Leah was ready and could fend for herself. Also Rachel wanted to be on her own. The story may have portrayed her as doing something wrong by leaving them, but if you think about it, this decision was probably really hard for her.
I think she is a good mother and truly does care for her children. I just think she has made some mistakes, who hasn't? She does though love her children and wants the best for them.
I think Orleanna is a good mother after Ruth May died i dont think she cared anymore what her husband thought and didnt care to leave him. Leaving was the best thing she could have done. i think she left to try and protect her other kids. I think it was ok that she let Rachel go that is what she wanted and Leah wanted to stay behind. I think Orleanna just wanted to make sure her daughters were all happy.
Personally I dont think it was right for Oreleanna to leave because she just left her family behind. She let Rachel go and left Leah behind, which i feel is ok because Leah didnt even want to go in the first place. I also think Orleanna is a good mother, I think she was just looking out for her daughters and her plans didnt really work out the way she wanted them to.
I believe that Orleanna is a good mother... she just doesn't really know what to do anymore... she has already lost one child she doesn't want to loose anymore. She left Leah because she knew she would be better off staying with Anatole to get better than to take her with her back to America. I think that she had every right to leave..... the only reason she was really staying was to support her husband and he was no support to her...... she should have packed up and left months before that with all of her kids...... if her husband truly loved her he would have known that but he was way to caught up in his own stuff and couldn't see past that. he was all in it for himself and no one else thats what it seemed like anyways.
Orlenna was ready to leave. She hated the Congo and did't like the decsions her husband was making to stay. The only choice was for her to leave. Everyone was miserable.
I don't think it was wrong for her to leave Leah behind and let Rachel go. They are old enough to take care of themselves, and it was their decesion to stay there. Orlenna can't make them do anything. I don't think she is a bad mother for leaving them behind.
i think it would have been better for her if she would have left nathan along time ago...she is a very good mother to her children. she just doesnt like the situation she is in.i dont blame her one bit for leaving,i would have left to. nathan is a pie hole and he needs to figure out what he is doing isn't doing anything for the people around him. her children are old enough to fend forr them selves and before you know it the kids are going to disown there own father..
When Orleanna finally packed up and left it didnt surprise me at all. I think she should have never went to the Congo and after seeing how Nathan was a handling the situation she should have took the kids back to the states. I think she couldnt handle the death of Ruth May so the easiest way out was to leave. I was very surprised when Orleanna decided to leave Leah and Rachel in the Congo and take Adah. But at the same time both girls really didnt want to leave the Congo so maybe she realized that. If the girls didnt have men that they had interest in, I dont think she woudld have left them there. I think Orleanna is a confused mother and really doesnt know what she should do. Sometimes she is a good mother and other times she is not. Leaving the congo was a good move but leaving her children was not.
well when Orleanna left i was kinda mad because she left with nothing pretty much, one daughter, and left 2 behind. Leah had malaria and Racheal got married to Mr. Axelroot but i dont thinkg that it was a good thing to leave no matter what the circumstances were.
And after Ruth May died she just kinda went into robot mode and gave away all the stuff and then packed up and left without her kids!!!!! WHAT THE HECK
Well, I think she could have put a little more effort into taking leah but under her cercumstances, and the fact that she new leah loved anatole, and that he loved leah, it makes sence to take adah and I do not pass judgement onto orleana.
I think Orleanna is a good mother. She took her decisions on the worst circumstances. For example, Ruth May had just died. It was a good decision to leave because they were on very sad situations and she probably didn't wanted another of her daughters dead. I'm sure she wanted the best for her daughters.
Orleanna let Leah stay because she was sick with malaria and Anatole was going to take care of her. If she had taken Leah with her, Leah probably have died on the way. She couldn't bear any more mosquito bites. Also, I think Orleanna let Rachel go with Axelroot because that's what Rachel wanted. It was her decision, she was desperate to leave the Congo.
Orleanna leaving Nathan was imminent. I really hoped she would have left him a lot sooner but nonetheless she did finally leave him. The timing disappointed me; it would have been nice to see her leave before she lost Ruth May. I enjoyed the fact that she never thought twice after she packed up and left. She was getting out no matter what.
At first it bothered me how she separated her family. Upon further looking she did what she believed would be the safest way out. Allowing Rachel to go was the best decision she made excluding her choice to leave. No doubt in my mind that if Rachel was forced to stay she would have snuck out with Axelroot, and/or been at odds with her mother the whole rest of the trip. This disagreement could have held the family in Bulungu long enough to hamper all chances of getting out. Leaving Leah I am sure was a very tough decision for Orleanna, by doing that she ran a risk of losing both twins. Leah could have easily died of malaria, but lucky for all Anatole was there and he nursed her back to health. Basically the decision came down to which child was better suited to fend for themselves in Africa. She took the right chances and won; if I were in her shoes I would try desperately to replicate her success with similar decisions. She may have taken the coward’s way out, but I have to give her credit for not losing any more children.
I feel that Orleanna is a great mother thrown into the most dire of situations. Some of her choices may make her look unfit for her children, but what other choices did she have. The only choice of hers I question is the fact that she didn’t leave sooner.
I think orleanna is a bad mother for not taking her children out of the situation sooner. She was in an abusive situation, physically and emotionally, and although she had a right to fear her husband, I think she should have stepped up to protect her kids. As far as leaving Rachel and Leah in Africa, I think it was time for them to do their own thing. They all have their own way of moving on and dealing with their experience. She knew Leah was in good hands, and Rachel was going to do what she wanted with her life.
I think orleanna is a good mother. Leah was all about anatole and so i think orleanna knew that anatole and leah would get together and he would take care of her. i dont know if orleanna really minded about leaving racheal in the Congo. Orleanna and nathan wernt getting along with each other and orleanna just wanted to get away without nathan.
I think that I would have done it a long time ago. I feel that everyone, except for Reverend, were suffering. I think that Orleanna should have packed up and moved when Ruth May got malaria. I don't know if I could ever leave my child behind but from Orleanna's point of view I can understand why she did it. She choose Leah and not Adah during the Ant invasion so I think it was only fair to have taken Adah. Plus Leah for her age is really mature and she stayed anyways because she's in love with Anatole, so I feel Orleanna's decsion was right. I think Orleanna did everything she could for her childern in the cerrcumstances she was in, but I do feel she should have left Kilango a long time ago. I think her choices are justifiable and she was a good mother.
I think that orleanna should have left nathan a long time ago but it was wrong of her to leave rachael and leah behind. i understand that she was in a tough situation and that she could bring only one child with her but leah had malaria and she just left her behind with anatole.
I still think she is a good mom in some ways. i mean, she took care of her family that whole time in the congo by looking after them and making sure they had everything they needed.
i think it was perfectly fine she was looking for some reason to leave and that was a better choice then siting there and waiting for here husband to kill here or here children then just staying there.
Well i think her choice to leave without telling her husband was great, but i dont know how she could even make a desion to leave which kids behind. like it was just somthig she was grabing to take, to me it would of been alot harder.and i probably wouldnt of been able to do that. but over all i think she is a pretty good mom she made really hard choices but it all turned out okay.
well i think she is agood mom she had to make alot of big decsions along the way the best one i think she made was to leave, but i dont know how she could choose so easy who to take and who to leave, to me it would of been a really hard choice i probably couldnt make a choice like that. over all i think that she made a good choice. most of it turned out okay marci
I believe that Orleanna did the right thing by leaving Nathan, even though she made the decision a little too late. It she would of made that decision earlier in her life then she wouldn't of ended up going to Africa and a lot of bad stuff would have not of happened.
I think that her decision on leaving Leah behind and letting Rachel go was made with out much thought to it even though it turned out pretty good for them.
Orleanna is a good mother, at least thats what i believe, because she did make a smart decision on leaving, it just happens that they were in a dangerous place if you don't know whats going on and things are gonna uncontrolably happen no matter what you do.
I thought she was finally being smart and using her commonsense and getting away from the Congo. I feel confused that she left Leah behind because Orleanna and Leah both stood up to the father of the house first. I feel stunned that she let Rachel go because Rachel wanted to go to the United States and Orleanna was heading that way. I do think that Orleanna was a good mother due to the fact she believed that she semi-helped the kids.
I think that Orleanna is a good mom, abd wanted the best for her kids but was put in bad situations. I think that she should of left a while ago. I dont think it was wrong for Orleanna to leave Leah and Rachel. Leah because she was sick with malaria, and Rachel because she was ready to be on her own and she wanted to be on her own as well. I bet it was really hard for her to leave the people who probably mean the most to her after what happen with Ruth May, but I would have to say that it was a good decision in her part!
i think orleanna shouldn't just leave her kids because there her responsibility maybe she should not to get kids if your gonna leave them. I feel bad for leah because shes 16 and her mom lefted her behind like she did with adah in the ant invasion. I think rachel going with axelroot is bad because pretenting to be married is not cool. I think Orleanna is not a good mother because she wouldn't leave her in a another country.
I think that Oreleanna did the best thing that she could have done at that point, for her remaining daughters. She never wanted to go to Africa in the first place. She says"I had washed up here in there[Africa] on the riptide of my husbands confidence and the undertow of my children's needs." Her daughter died and she no longer would stay and obey her husband, although i think she had stopped heeding him before that. Orleanna left Leah because she was sick with Malaria and needed to stay longer in Bulungu to get well. Also, Anatole would be there to care for her until she got better, and promised he would send her to the U.S. as soon as she was well. Orleanna could not sit still, i think she needed to leave Africa, because of all the pain that had happened there. As for Rachel being left behind, she was already seventeen years old and had a mind of her own. Even if Orleanna had not allowed her to go, she would have disobeyed. Rachel is her own person and would do anyhthing to leave Africa then. Orleanna does the best that she can to raise her children under the circumstances. However, she should have left her abusive husband so her children did not have to suffer. By staying with him, she hurt all of them.

Also, Anatole would be there to care for her until she got better, and promised he would send her to the U.S. as soon as she was well. Orleanna could not sit still, i think she needed to leave Africa, because of all the painful things that happened there, mainly Ruth May's death. I think that Orleanna had a tough decision to make between staying in the congo with her family or leaving them behind to go back home. If i was in that situation I think i would have done the same thing. Her daughters had the choice to accompany her back to the united states but they chose to take a different route. If they really wanted out of the congo they would have left with thier mother like Adah did. So i do not have sympathy for Rachel and Leah when thier mother left her.
Its completely understandable why she would pack up her stuff and leave. Although i kind of think she should have done it earlier. Her husband made her and her daughters suffer and it was the best choice for her. She left Leah behind because she had Malaria and she still had Antole there to take care of her. I dont think she is a bad mother for leaving Leah and Rachel, they are old enough to make their own decisions and do their own things with their lives.
Personally I think that any mother put in the exact situation would have done the same thing. Because alot has happend to Orleanna in Africa that it was very overwhelming for her. And she was to a desperate point, to where she wanted to leave. And she knew that Leah wanted to be with Anatole. So she wanted her daughter to be happy. And she wanted her to live how she wants to. As for rachel. She didn't even want to back to the U.S because she was scared of what people would think of her, and what her friends would say. And I think Leah and Rachel both were at the age which they could handle themselves. Because Africa helped them grow as independant women alot. And Orleanna knew now that Leah was apart of Africa, and she knew that Leah is now an african. So in a way Orleanna had no choice but to leave her. And another reason is that she wanted her to stay and recover from malariya. So I think that she meant well.
I think it was kinda messed up that she just packed up and left. I mean she left part of her family behind. I think that it was okay that she took Rachel with her and Leah behind because Leah wanted to stay there. What was messed up is when they got back to town Rachel immediately started to complain. That is My view on that.
she wanted to do what was right for her children, and i think that by doing that she thout is was a good idea but thats just what i think
what lea and ada wanted to to was go back to ther statel, and by the mom leting them do that it was a smart dicission
orleana is a really good mother but was forst to make fast dicicions but she no idea what the resalts were going to be,but she did what she thout was best for her girls.
I think that the decision of Orleanna leaving was the right one because of the fact she held on for so long when she really did not know how to hold on much longer! Her husband was horrible and abusive and I think that she did not want her childern to think of her as a mom who did not do the right thing and who cant be strong and stick up for herself! I also think orleanna left to show her children that its not ok to let a man treat you that way although she stayed longer than she should of it was her way of proving a point. I think the choice of letting the girls go with axelroot and anatole was not a bad one because if the girls did not want that they would have gone with their mother, to me they were old enough to make their own decisions!
Orleanne is a good mother. she should have left long ago. They stop getting money from the goverment. Leah was sick and Rachel was going to go anyway I think. Nathan was a ass. So I think it was good for her to stand up for her self.
orleanna is a good mother that is allways put in bad places and situations. i think she should have left nathen a long time ago. but i believe that its best that she left so she can move on with her life and leave rachel and the other girls to live there own life.
I think that Orleanna did the right thing when leaving Nathan. Nathan mistreated the whole foamily, and was only concerned with his church work.
I think that leaving Leah was the right thing to do. Leah was a strong girl and could definetly fend for herself. Not to mention she loved Anatole, and probably wouldn't have left him behind anyway.
I have mixed feelings about the Rachel situation. Rachel is going COMPLETELY MISERABLE with Axelroot. The man is pathetic, and probably won't be there for Rachel ever. At the same time Rachel "loved" him and it's where she wanted to be.
Either way, Orleanna Made a split second decision based on what she thought was good for her daughters.
Orleanna is a good mother she was just placed in a bad Situations and I believe she made the best decision in most of the situations letting Leah stay and rachel go although understandable I think she could have tried just a little harder to keep Rachel and Leah with her but given her current state she made those decisions the best she could
Here leaving was the one of the better decisions she made...Although I think she should have made it sooner not just sit there and wait for a tragedy to strike but at the same time Nathan could no longer protest her leaving she had every reason in the world at that point.

So yes I think that Orleanna is a good mother in certain situations.
Well i think her choice to leave without telling her husband was great, but i dont know how she could even make a desion to leave which kids behind. like it was just somthig she was grabing to take, to me it would of been alot harder.and i probably wouldnt of been able to do that. but over all i think she is a pretty good mom she made really hard choices but it all turned out okay.
well i think she is agood mom she had to make alot of big decsions along the way the best one i think she made was to leave, but i dont know how she could choose so easy who to take and who to leave, to me it would of been a really hard choice i probably couldnt make a choice like that. over all i think that she made a good choice. most of it turned out okay

Orleanna could not sit still, i think she needed to leave Africa, because of all the painful things that happened there, mainly Ruth May's death. As for Rachel being left behind, she was already seventeen years old and had a mind of her own. Even if Orleanna had not allowed her to go, she would have disobeyed.
